Last minute cake

Craving for something sweet? I know the feeling!!! And I do understand that sometimes we don't have any special ingredient in the fridge to create a confectionery masterpiece. Here is a recipe that requires just very common ingredients...

INGREDIENTS:

1 egg
5 tsp sugar
100g butter
1 glass flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
nuts, dates, raisins,...

1. You need soft butter for this recipe so take it out of the fridge at least half an hour before. You can always use margarine instead of butter to have a lighter version.
2. Start heating the oven.
3. Chop finely nuts and and dried fruits

4. Beat well an egg and sugar till white foam and mix the butter in.

5.  Sift the flower and add it to the butter mix, mix well, add baking powder and finally chopped nuts and fruits. Mix again.

6. Grease the baking pan
7. Pour the batter into the pan, the batter will result rather thick so you will need to use a spoon to level it in the pan.

8. Bake in the preheated oven at 250 C for about 10 minutes.

 9. You may decorate the cake with the icing sugar, I was in a romantic mood, so I designed some hearts using a stencil that I cut of a plain sheet of paper...

Have a nice cup of tea or coffee!!!
